It’s sunny and bright with temperatures close to fifty degrees, today! Woot! This may not seem like a heat wave to most of you, but here in southeast Nebraska, it’s practically balmy compared to what it has been, and will likely be, again, soon. I love these days that make our house seem bright and where the air outside is fresh, warmer and promises that spring is lurking in the not to distant future. With Christmas over and the winter doldrums setting in, I NEED these days to keep me going. Dark, dreary and cold are not my friends. This sudden burst of sunshine has been inspiring me to get busy with organizing and cleaning projects, this week. My pantries and cupboards are looking fabulous and I’ve made it through an entire Mt. Everest of laundry. I’m SO in the groove and I don’t want to stop.
One of my all-time favorite Hunter fans. This Crown Park fan is perfect in my dining room!
The next project I plan to tackle is our bedroom. It hasn’t been touched, decorating-wise, since we bought the house over four years ago. It is definitely not the haven of restfulness I would love it to be. The previous owners of our home were very much into faux-painting and textures. I think they were trying to create a “cabin-feel” in the master bath and have one wall textured to look like what I think was supposed to be stone, but, to me, looks more like mud spread on the walls. The bedroom itself was painted in wide stripes. Yup, stripes. It boggles the mind, but fortunately the contrast between the two colors is so slight that it isn’t immediately noticeable. New paint is definitely a MUST! I still need to get my mind around a general theme or overall feeling I want to create, before I can jump in, though. As I mull over colors, I’ve decided to start with something simpler, but an important central focus in the room. I’m choosing a Hunter ceiling fan as my central inspiration piece, again. It worked so beautifully as I made over our dining room, that I think I’m going to try and repeat that success, in my master bedroom makeover. I went back and forth debating which would be the best fan for that very large room. W+e narrowed all the gorgeous choices down to the Crown Park that we love so much and the Woodford. After much deliberation, the curved lines and roasted cherry color of the Crown Park won out and will coordinate beautifully with are carved cherrywood bedframe.
