I had the great privilege, this week, of participating in Elmer’s Bag it Forward program. For weeks now, people around the country have been filling backpacks with school supplies and donating them to students and schools in their communities. As a matter of fact YOU can take part in this fun and heart-warming project, too, and make a donation in your own community! When you’re finished, you can share the love and upload pictures of your experience on the Bag It Forward website.
You can share in other ways, too, thanks to Elmer’s. I’m so impressed with all they do to help make sure kids start school with the supplies they need. They are also sponsoring the Kids in Need Foundation, which means for each person who likes Elmer’s on Facebook, they will donate one more item to a child in need. And if you already like them, watch the video about Kids in Need, they will donate another school item. Thats two ways to make a difference that won’t cost a thing. Plus, did you know that Elmer’s is a Upromise partner, and that every time you purchase an Elmer’s or Krazy Glue product with your registered drug or grocery card, a percentage of your purchase will be put into your Upromise account? The project I got to work on, this week, was a little bit different. I had a great time shopping our local Wal-Mart store for Elmer’s products and school supplies to surprise a deserving teacher in our community. Choosing who was easy, keeping it a secret — not so much. –lol– The goal was to leave it off anonymously and just surprise the happy socks off of my selected teacher. However, as I mentioned before, I live in a small town and I know this sweet lady is one of my blog subscriber’s, BESIDES being a wife, devoted mom of 4 and a hard-working middle school special ed teacher. It’s not likely I can keep the secret from her, but oh baby, did I have fun putting her surprise package together! I love giving presents, and I love it even more, when it’s unexpected. What a hoot it was to shop and plan, knowing it would make her smile.
When I walked into Wal-Mart, I was greeted by friendly smiles AND a Back-to-School display, right by the front door. There were two other areas of the store displaying school supplies, as well, so I had a great variety to choose from at fantastic prices. Wal-Mart is always great for getting a bargain! Take a look at some of the great Elmer’s products I picked up, like Glue All, Disappearing Purple Glue Sticks and X-TREME Glue Sticks (By the way, who KNEW there were so many kinds of Elmer’s? I even found specialty glues and tape in the craft department! What an adventure and education I got exploring all their options.) and other school supplies I found.
At the last minute, I decided to add a Bodycology Sweet Petals gift set to the tote. Wal-Mart always has a good selection of Bodycology products to choose from. Every teacher deserves a little pampering and relaxation, now and then. I got everything loaded and arranged in the bag and then ran quick to leave the bag on her porch, right before she would be coming home from her first day of teaching. I would have loved to see the surprise and smile on her face when she found it, but either way, I want you to know this project was over the top fun and I would encourage any of you to enjoy your own Bag-It-Forward fun by donating bags in your own community!
For even more details about the products I selected and my Bag It Forward experience, I hope you will stop by my thisMoment slideshow.… This project has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Elmer’s #BagItForward #collectivebias. As always, the views and opinions expressed are wholly my own.
