Every other member of our family can be found wandering about with fuzzy little black earbuds hanging from their ears, connected to an MP3 device of some sort. Even my nine-year-old! These devices are from a variety of brands and price-points. I personally have never had an MP3 player of my own, and until now, didn’t even consider that it was something I needed. I listen to a LOT of Christian radio, both music and talk radio and until, now was content to blast it through the house, so I could hear from whatever corner I happened to be working in. What I didn’t realize is how incredibly versatile and useful the right MP3 player could be. Enter my new (beautiful blue) SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip.
Easy to charge, easy to sync and easy to use, the Clip Zip is so much more than just a music player, although it can hold hours and hours of it. It has 4GB of on-board memory (The black and gray models can have 4GB or 8GB.) and is expandable by plugging a teeny tiny micro SDHC card into the slot on the side of the player. These little bitty cards are available separately and can provide up to an additional whopping 32GB of storage! That’s a ton of music, but the Clip Zip is formatted for so much more. I can store podcasts and entire audiobooks! It is also a fully-functioning FM radio with better reception that I get on any other device in my home! This tiny, feature-packed MP3 player also has a voice recorder. I can record my grocery list and play it back in the grocery store, which is a huge benefit for a forgetful, perimenopausal woman who often loses the paper she wrote her grocery list on or completely forgets to bring the paper to the store. The Sansa Clip Zip can also hold all your album art and includes a handy stop-watch. It plays AAC Compatible (DRM-free iTunes), MP3, WMA, secure WMA, Ogg Vorbis, and FLAC, so your options are plentiful! I also like that the screen is large enough to be easy to read and navigation and control buttons are easy to understand, even for a technology amateur like me.
I’ll be the first to admit that my “exercise routine” consists mainly of jogging up and down the stairs with baskets of laundry, running from the kitchen sink or stove top to the table where homeschool lessons are underway, so I can answer a question or playing kickball with the Jr. High Youth Group on Wednesday nights. The Clip Zip is great in all those instances, however, I love walking when I get the extra time in my schedule, even though it’s not a frequent occurrence. So, when I do get an opportunity to just take off for a mind-clearing, energy-renewing walk, my Sansa Zip Clip is a welcome companion, whether I’m listening to a devotional message, a radio program, an audiobook, my favorite music or feeding my soul with life-renewing messages from God’s Word. (Did you know you could get the entire Bible in MP3 format?) So cool!
I love the options I have when I clip on this versatile little MP3 player. It goes where I go, without being cumbersome or even noticed, and I can enjoy all kinds of audio media choices with my hands free to do other things. The sound is crisp and clear. I don’t know a lot about the technical aspects of that, but I do know from listening to the conversations of my family members that quality ear buds are critically important to good sound with an MP3 player. The pair that comes with the SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip is excellent, in my opinion. I know they are better than the speakers in my laptop or even on our home stereo. I am also impressed with the radio reception on the Clip Zip. My favorite stations are crystal clear — no small feat, when considering I have to move our home stereo to different locations throughout the house, looking for a spot with good enough reception to tune in what I want to listen to.
Whether I am relaxing in my comfy chair with my laptop, doing chores around the house, or on the go, the Sansa Clip Zip Mp3 Player opens up a whole new world of audio entertainment at an incredibly affordable price. Coming in just under $50, this little device is much more affordable and gives you a lot of bang for your feature-purchasing buck when compared to other brands. It’s an excellent Christmas gift option for the music-lovers and radio-buffs on your gift list!
