I received a Grateful Red Hydrangea to facilitate this review. All views and opinions are my own.
There’s nothing I love better than adding pops of color to our landscape. As the weather cools, for fall, gardening and landscape work can still move full-steam ahead. Even though our vegetable garden is pretty much done for the season, I can still add a few plantings, through the fall, that will enhance our landscape and curb-appeal, far into the future. My new Grateful Red Hydrangea fron Nature Hills Nursery is the perfect pop of fall color that helps me celebrate my favorite season!
I couldn’t be more impressed with the packaging that got my beautiful hydrangea to me in healthy shape. It arrived in a tall, narrow carton, which when opened, revealed this lovely flowering shrub, heavily STAPLED to the bottom portion of the carton, so that no matter how the box was turned during shipping, the plant would not break free and fall to the other end of the carton. The hardworking people at Nature Hills Nursery made sure my Grateful Red Hydrangea would reach me without snapped stems, crushed leaves or missing blooms. It is incredibly beautiful.
I removed the cardboard stapled around the pot and discovered that my plant was in pristine condition. The information included with the plant says it will grow to 3-4 feet in height and will be a lovely addition to shady gardens and is hardy in Zone 5, which is me! It was noted that this particular variety prefers to be on the east side of homes or buildings, which protects it from harsh afternoon sun. Like all hydrangeas, soil type determines the color of blooms. In acidic soils this shrub will produce purple blossoms and in neutral soils the blooms will be shades of red. As cool weather sneaks in with the onset of fall, the color fades to lavendar and the foliage takes on a gorgeous burgundy color.
I’m loving this unique and colorful addition to our garden! The good news is that a lucky Busy-at-Home reader can be enjoying one soon, as well. Enter the giveaway, below, to win your own gorgeous hydrangea from Nature Hills Nursery.
