When I received an email from a company called Fresh Produce, of course it seemed like the most natural thing in the world with the foodie tendencies of this blog. I assumed I was going to be asked to review a fun new product for the kitchen. I opened it quickly and was surprised to find that Fresh Produce is indeed a very fun company, but their niche is fashion — comfy, busy-woman-on-the-go fashion. They carry clothes for women AND children and you’ll find everything from beach cover-ups, to fun island dresses to just about any style of summer clothes you can imagine. I was intrigued and as I started browsing their website, I found several items that would be welcome additions to my wardrobe. If I had to find one thing that I was not as excited about, the prices are higher than I would normally pay when shopping for clothes online and only getting to see a picture, not try on the actual product. However, after my order and seeing, firsthand, the quality of the fabric and the dress construction, I understand the pricing a little more. I was also impressed at the sale prices for the items they have on special and tickled to see that, right now, using the coupon code LASTCHANCE at checkout, you can get an additional 25% off the already marked-down sale prices! Now, that’s a good value!
I was inexplicably drawn to the section of maxi-dresses, at Fresh Produce. Maxi dresses were a phenomenon for awhile when I was in school, way back in the dark ages. 🙂 I like that they are becoming trendy, again, for summer. They are so floaty and comfortable, modest but feminine and available in so many different styles. I can be just around the house, out at the store buying groceries or having dinner with my husband and a maxi dress, appropriately accessorized, is the perfect thing to wear. Spring seems to have brought a bright, bold color palette into fashion, as well. And I love color, but for some reason, I just kept going back to one dress in particular – the Fiji Beachcomber Dress. I knew that the empire cut would be a flattering style for my body-type and it was available in a color called truffle, that was just calling my name. So, that’s the dress I settled on and I couldn’t be more pleased. This cute and comfy dress is available in other colors, as well. You can select the Fiji pattern as I did and then a color for that pattern or you can order the dress in a myriad of solid colors.
I have worn the dress several times already. The fabric is a soft rayon, lycra mix, but it’s a HEAVY knit, so it drapes beautifully and is not clingy at all. I love the drawstring empire waist. It’s a feature that makes this dress a perfect fit for whoever puts it on and the bow, tied in the front, is a nice feminine touch. The dress isn’t overly dressy, but it’s special enough to wear on a date night with my husband. I wish I had several, and a top or two, made from the same fabric. I love the way it lays, how comfortable it is to wear and how easily it washes and dries, still retaining that soft to the touch feel. I’ve dressed it up with jewelry and worn it too church and I’ve worn it around the house to go through my daily school, baking, blogging, wife and mom routine. I’m so excited about it’s versatility.
If you’re planning to add a piece or two to your summer wardrobe, I would definitely encourage you to check out the Fresh Produce website. You’ll fall in love with something and I’m betting you’ll find a great bargain or two, as well!
P.S. I can’t wait to show you the new shoes I found to wear with this dress!
I received the Fiji Beachcomber dress in order to test it for myself and write this review. No monetary compensation was received and a positive review was not required. As with all Busy-at-Home reviews, the views and opinions expressed are wholly my own and based on my personal experience with the product.
