I have a great surprise for you! A dear friend, Deb Koch, has recently started her own essential oils business with doTerra and she is going to send one lucky Busy-at-Home reader fabulous essential oils, just in time for Christmas! You can visit Deb’s doTerra website or her doTerra Facebook page to learn more about doTerra, their products and how important essential oils can be for those of us who want to try healthier, more natural products for our homes and families.
You already know how much I love essential oils and that they are a staple in our household, whether we’re combating colds and coughs, making healthier household cleaners or our favorite health and beauty items. Deb is giving away three of the most popular essential oils: Lavender, Lemon and Peppermint.
doTerra’s Lemon Essential Oil is cold pressed/expressed and has numerous uses and benefits. It purifies air and surfaces, so it’s great in home cleaning products. Lemon oil is a commonly used to enhance flavor in baked goods and recipes and it’s amazingly refreshing when a drop or two is added to a glass of ice water. It can be diffused into the air to help improve mood and give an energy boost. I have used Lemon essential oil in homemade household cleaners and often add it to our DIY laundry detergent. Lemon, peppermint and lavender essential oils are all three included in my recipe for the only Insect Repellent I use on my grandkids, in the summertime. And it’s simple to add your favorite healthy oils to DIY health and beauty products, like my recipe for DIY Deodorant, lip balms or lotions.
Lavender essential oil is fabulous for helping me relax and wind down after a hectic day. Diffused in the bedroom, it helps me fall asleep so much more quickly, which is something I had quite a bit of difficulty with, before discovering essential oils. I also like Lavender essential oil for minor skin irritations and imperfections, which is why I frequently add it to most of my DIY lotions or scrubs. Plus, it’s one of my favorite scents. I inject it into the center of my DIY wool dryer balls and then that wonderful, soothing fragrance permeates our sheets, towels and clothing. Love, love, love!
Peppermint essential oil has given me relief for headaches and helps when I have a stuffy nose. It also is great for soothing an upset stomach and I love peppermint essential oil in DIY toothpaste.
There are dozens and dozens of varieties of essential oils. It’s important to educate yourself about all their benefits and how they might work for your own family. In a time when all of us are looking for more natural, and healthy alternatives to products we have commonly used in our homes, essential oils offer options that allow us to make the best choices for the ones we love. Take a look at all they have to offer. Ask Deb questions. She’ll be a fantastic resource for you!
