As a kid, I remember my mom, after Christmas, painstakingly sorting through the Christmas cards we had received, saving the pictures for scrapbooks and albums and then recycling the cards. That was long before recycling was even a word and it wasn’t socially conscious, it was just common sense. Mom would carefully cut the beautiful scenes, shapes and designs from cards to be used as gift tags on next year’s Christmas packages. With a small hole poked in the top to string a piece of ribbon through, each trimmed card became a wonderfully unique and special tag to put on a loved one’s gift. The blank card-backs were saved for we kids to draw on or use in craft projects. I also remember a few of the prettiest cards being decoupaged onto a carefully sanded piece of scrap wood from Dad’s shop and given as gifts. The love and memories from all those cards lived on, not stuffed in a box somewhere, but shared with others from year-to-year. It was totally DIY, when DIY wasn’t trendy, it was just the way we lived. 🙂
The tradition of reusing old cards as gift tags is a great one to start in your own family and Storkie.com can put you on the right track to making sure the Christmas cards you send are going to be masterpieces that those receiving them will be excited to repurpose. They offer Christmas Photo Cards, Modern Christmas Cards and Classic Christmas Cards, so there truly is something to fit every family’s style. I like to include family photos inside a really beautiful card that expresses our joy and celebration of the birth of Christ at Christmas. I was thrilled that we could actually customize the wording and sentiments of Storkie’s cards, to reflect that.
I was definitely drawn to the classic designs for Christmas cards at the Storkie.com website. There were several I really liked.
And then I saw Magnet Holiday Cards listed in their menu. Adorable! Look at these.
Storkie.com has cards and invitations for every occasion or holiday you can imagine and some unique products to customize to fit your own personal style. Check out all they have to offer. It’s never to soon to get started on that Christmas card list! (I’m on yours, right?) 🙂
