Do you dig in and make over a new home, the moment you move in? When we bought our home, three years ago, there were a few “make it mine” things I did, right away, and then there were some areas that seemed to be too costly and overwhelming a project to start, right then. It’s amazing how quickly time goes by! Here I am three years later and the spot that made me cringe most, back then, hasn’t changed in the slightest. I have disliked our main bathroom, with no outside walls and no natural light, so intensely, that I don’t go into it, except to clean it up. It suffers from 1980’s faux-painted tan walls, horrible wall paper border and TAN fixtures. Even the plastic light fixture is gold (shiny tan!). The wood is dark and contributes to the dreary “mood” of the room, with no sunlight to brighten things up. You can’t possibly imagine my excitement when I was approached with an opportunity to test a new Delta Corrente Toilet in bright, sparkling white! After the easy installation and the happy results, it’s the inspiration to get busy on the rest of our bathroom makeover. You’re going to be inspired by this sleek, modern and highly efficient beauty, too! Maybe you’ll decide it’s time to bring your bathroom into this decade, along with me!
Today, I want to tell you about the features of the Delta Corrente, and in my next post about the bathroom, show you how this gorgeous inspiration piece inspired a beautiful transition. So stay tuned for the total makeover. It’s coming soon.
The Delta Corrente truly is a beautiful fixture for a modern bathroom! This toilet has a powerful flush that belies it’s water-saving 1.28 gallon water use for each flush. I have never been a fan of water-saving toilets, up to now, with their weak ability to clear the bowl and often requiring a second flush (which doesn’t save anything). The wave of water pushed through the Delta Corrente, with extraordinary power, may well be THE most outstanding of a long list of fabulous features.
I also love the modern shape and the chair-height seat. The sleek, curved lines of the Corrente and its small footprint in the bathroom, make the room around it seem much bigger. This toilet also features the exclusive SmartFit™ tank-to-bowl connection and SmartFit™ supply line, reducing potential leak points, over-tightening of the fasteners or cracking the toilet. I don’t think there could possibly be a simpler installation process and everything needed, even the tools, was included in the box — even everything we needed to take out the old toilet!
My son-in-law and I watched the installation video, along with my four-year-old grandson who couldn’t wait to help his dad “build”. 🙂 You can see for yourself, how simple the installation is, from the video below.
Seeing the new bowl, installed so quickly, I was really getting excited about the Corrente’s design. I had never seen a toilet that was installed in separate pieces, like that — first the bowl and then the tank.
When I read about and saw, firsthand, the reason for it, I was even more impressed. Delta uses a metal bracket on the bottom of the tank to secure the bolts to the bowl. This SmartFit tank-to-bowl connection means that the holes typically found in the bottom of most toilet tanks aren’t necessary in the Corrente. The three bolts that were needed came already assembled into the metal plate and connecting the tank to the bowl probably took less than 60 seconds.! All that was left to do was to connect the water supply hose to the toilet and place the lid. My grandson was excited to get to be part of the process and brought the crowning glory to finish off the installation. I’ll bet there aren’t too many plumbing jobs that are simple enough, it’s no bother to have a three-year-old “helping”, but this one sure was. And boy was he proud!
I had one beef with the Delta Corrente. Actually, it was more than just a beef. If I had tried it out, in-store as a display model, I may very well have missed out on purchasing an extraordinary product, because I hate the seat it is packaged with. Installed properly and securely tightened, the seat still slid from side to side when someone sat down on it, because the hinges were designed with too much side-to-side “play” in them. Delta was great to agree to replace the seat with one of my choosing. When purchasing the new toilet seat, the associate at The Home Depot expressed that it was a common complaint about the snap-fit toilet seats and he was able to point me to a seat that is a perfect fit for my new Corrente. Now, the seat is as remarkable as the rest of the product.
The installation process was astoundingly simple! Delta nailed it with this new system and all that’s included to make removing the old toilet and installing a new one a cinch for any DIY homeowner. We’ll definitely be looking for a Delta toilet when we need to replace any of the three other toilets in our home. It’s amazing how something as simple as this one change has me motivated to get out the paint rollers and really bring that dated bathroom out of it’s 1980’s funk. Next time you see it, you’re going to be amazed! 🙂 In the meantime, feast your eyes on this new beauty!
You can totally do this! Is there a bathroom makeover in your future?
