The Elephant Trunk on My Front Porch, plus a Fabulous Give Away!

I received an Elephant Trunk to evaluate the ease of assembly, durability and function in my own home and to collect information for this review.  No monetary compensation was received and a positive review was not required.  As with all Busy-at-Home reviews, the views and opinions expressed are wholly my own and based on my personal experience with the product.

My new Elephant Trunk!

.

There probably aren’t many people on a first name basis with their Fed Ex and UPS delivery drivers, but, as a review blogger, I receive what others MIGHT consider an unusually large number of parcels at my house.  Plus, I do a large percentage of our family’s shopping, online, having the purchases delivered to the house, instead of driving into the city to shop.  That’s a lot of packages for one household.  As a matter of fact, it’s come to the point where I can recognize whether it’s the UPS truck or the FedEx truck, just by the sound of their brakes, as they pull up out front to make deliveries.   lol If our kids see a delivery truck drive past the house, they suspect it’s “someone new” and he’s having trouble finding our house.  :)  Mmmm hmmmm…..a LOT of packages!

bellevue

The Bellevue mounted on a basic post with decorative cover. This particular mailbox is available in black, bronze or white and the trim can be selected in bronze, white bronze or platinum.  Photo Credit: Architectural Mailboxes

Architectural Mailboxes recently approached me about reviewing their beautiful line of curbside mailboxes, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect since sprucing up the curb appeal of our homes is upper-most in the minds of many homeowners, in the spring.  The mailboxes are BEAUTIFUL! I was so distressed that we didn’t have a curbside mailbox at our home.  I pored over their online catalog and have to confess that I considered switching up our mail delivery service, just to add one to the lawnscape at the front of our yard.  Do you have a mailbox on your curb?  I would love to have all the decorating possibilities that it affords.  Think of the gorgeous “garden” arrangements you could build around a truly high-quality and attractive mailbox.  Architectural Mailboxes has tons of options, though, from post mount mailboxes that lock for security, or not, as is your preference; to gorgeous wall mount boxes to put next to your front door.  The post for your mailbox can be plain-jane, sturdy steel or a decorative steel post with a dressier style.  Posts can be selected that mount your mailbox on the front or on the side.  Some of their options even include front-loading mailboxes that must be opened with a key to retrieve the mail, so if a locking box is a good option for you, Architectural Mailboxes has beautiful solutions to fit your needs.  Whatever fits the style of your home and garden, your need for security, whether it be post or wall mount, Architectural Mailboxes has high quality, gorgeous options that will be the perfect fit!

elephant trunk arrives

The Elephant Trunk arrived carefully packaged and mostly assembled. The hardware necessary to complete the simple assembly and installation was included. I love the roomy capacity of the parcel storage compartment, that allows the box to hold several packages at once!  The easy tumbler system (blue) that lets packages be inserted, but then protects them from being withdrawn, reminds me of US Mail drop boxes and gives me peace of mind about the security of parcels.

.

How do I know they’ll be just right, if I don’t have a curbside mailbox, myself?  What would make me so excited about the possibilities and so confident of the quality of Architectural Mailboxes products?  My Elephant Trunk!  That’s right!  I have an Elephant Trunk on my front porch, and you can, too, if you like.  :)  Because my mail is delivered to my front door and even more, because I receive an inordinate number of packages, the good people at Architectural Mailboxes asked me to test their home parcel delivery box, instead.  This sturdy, protective and beautiful upright trunk is the perfect place for delivery drivers to stow my packages when we’re not at home to receive them.  The heavy-duty box protects the packages from theft, since once the package is inserted, it can only be removed with a key.  It also provides protection from the wind, rain and elements, regardless of the season.  And to top it off, it’s gorgeous!  I love the matte-black finish of the exterior and the way it dresses up the porch with elegant curved lines.

Elephant Box parts

Attaching the handle was as simple as mounting it on the front and inserting the screws through the pre-drilled holes and tightening them up. The screw in legs are a lot like appliance legs and can be independently adjusted, so your box installation is completely level. The yellow “flag” says, “No Deliveries” and prevents the Elephant box from opening, if you need to be gone for several weeks.

Elephant Boxes are made from cast aluminum and powder coated heavy gauge steel.  They can be purchased in black, white, red or oil-rubbed bronze finishes.  I love that not only can I receive packages in it, but I can leave a package for the delivery driver, too.  The handy out-going partition, can easily be inserted and allows me to have a package ready for the delivery driver, even if I’m not at home.  The Elephant Trunk comes with all the necessary hardware to secure it to your porch or deck, regardless of the construction.  It can be fastened to both wood and concrete, using the included mounting hardware.  The screw-type legs allow you to make the installation perfectly level, as well.  There is also a yellow No Deliveries indicator that alerts the driver if you do NOT want packages left, during an extended vacation, for instance.  The indicator rotates down and prevents the door of the Elephant Box from being able to be opened.  Architectural Mailboxes really did think of everything when it comes to security, design, function and curb appeal in creating the Elephant Box.  That’s why I know, if our community ever requires all mailboxes to be moved to the curb, I won’t hesitate for a moment to return to a company I know I can trust, to find the perfect high-quality mailbox to ramp up our home’s curb appeal!

front porch

Isn’t it beautiful!!?!! I love how it tucks into the corner, right under the mailbox. Where would you place yours?
