Sharing recipes, along with what I’m doing in the kitchen, is such a kick for me and I love sharing pictures to show you the steps!  You’re always inspiring me to try new recipes and ingredients and I love sharing the products I like best, in my own kitchen.  The thing I have always wanted is to be able to provide you with gorgeous, crisp, clear pictures to make the best presentation of my food and ideas even more exciting and easy to understand.  Unfortunately, I’m not so great behind the camera.  I wish I could say it’s because I don’t have good equipment to work with, but the reality is that I own a Canon Rebel DSLR camera.  It’s fabulous and every once in awhile, I get lucky and accidently take an amazing picture.  :)  I’m never sure what it was I did, or how to recreate the success, so my photos are more trial and error than anything.

I’m so excited to be able to spend the next several weeks taking a photography class through an amazing blogging community I’m a part of, Social Fabric.  I’m looking forward to learning how to use all the great features on my camera and create pictures for you that will make you want to reach through your computer screen to grab a taste of what I’m cooking!  I can’t wait to find out how to do lighting adjustments and create well composed photos.  Another great part of this class will be learning to use pixlr.com, a free online photo editing program.

During this first week of class we have studied photo editing, using a photo we already had and wanted to improve.  I learned about making new layers and adjusting levels, sharpening, dodging and burning.  Here are the final results of my first photo edit.  I still have a lot to learn, but I can’t believe the difference!
