Carmex is a name we all recognize when it comes to lip balms that really work, healing and providing relief for dry, chapped lips.  It is not only effective, it is one of the most economical choices for lip balm.  Our family is always well stocked on Carmex lip products in various forms and flavors.  It was exciting news to me, to hear that Carmex makes skin care products, too.  I couldn’t wait to try them!

The Carmex Skin Care products I tested. Carmex Healing Lotion with Aloe and Vitamin E and Carmex Healing Cream with 9 Healing Ingredients - a full-size and purse-size of each and a cute gold gift bag.

Carmex Healing Lotion has aloe and Vitamin E and leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft, without being greasy.  As a matter of fact, it almost seems to disappear into my skin.  What surprised me is that even though my skin actually was softer, it didn’t look like it.  The appearance of the skin on my hands didn’t seem to change and still looked a little rough.  With other lotions I have used, my skin was visibly smoother after using them, but it also felt greasy, rather than moisturized.  Hmmm…moisturized, soft and smooth with no visible change, or visible change with a greasy film on my skin?

The reality is I want my skin to be healthier.  The older I get, the more my skin is affected by cold, dry air.  Greasy oils don’t really do anything more than sit on the surface of my skin and provide the visual illusion of looking smoother.  I really hate the way that feels and it isn’t giving me what I need.  What I need is real moisture that can penetrate the surface of my skin and begin a healing process, that I am guessing, over time will also change the appearance of my skin because it will actually be hydrated and healthier.  That is what I feel like I am getting from Carmex Healing Lotion as it disappears into my skin.  After using it for a couple weeks, I’ll let you know if my hypothesis proves to be accurate.

Carmex Healing Cream is thicker than the lotion, so it takes longer to work it into my skin, but like the lotion it actually seems to disappear or be absorbed INTO my skin.  It is formulated with 9 healing ingredients that help repair your driest, most damaged or cracked skin.  It’s great for hands, feet, elbows and knees.  In my case, it’s perfect for my always bare feet, which get lots  of wear and tear.  I love that it is super concentrated and only takes a small amount.

Both varieties are available at Walgreens, CVS and Walmart, so you shouldn’t have any problem finding them locally and protecting your skin from dry, winter air.   CLICK HERE to print a $1.50 coupon off a Carmex Skin Care product!  Plus, one lucky Busy-at-Home reader is going to win the set pictured above, with the pretty gold gift bag!

I received a Carmex Skin Care Gift Set to test the products and write this review. No monetary compensation was received and a positive review was not required. As always, at Busy-at-Home, the view and opinions expressed are wholly my own.
