This blog is named after you! Like you, I’m a busy mom (and grandma!). I have kids ranging in age from 12 to 29; and three gorgeous grandchildren (4, 6 and 7), with a fourth on the way. I’ve been married for 30 years and I’ll tell you upfront, “I don’t have all the answers”, but I’m excited to share the things I HAVE learned and I hope they’ll be a blessing to you.
Being creative in the kitchen is a passion I love to share with family and friends, whether its creating a warm, savory comfort food dish or baking a scrumptious dessert. I cook from the heart (recipes are optional ), and food, the cooking of it, as well as sharing it around the table, evokes such powerful memories for me. I feel like it’s an artform that draws family and friends close, and bonds them over common experiences and fun. Those memories will last a lifetime and be rekindled each time you, or they, recreate that dish. I want my kids to learn and share that; and I’ll bet you want the same for yours. I prefer to “make it myself” whenever I can, though I’m not averse to quick and easy when I need it. My goal is to make my kitchen and home a warm and inviting place where anyone will feel welcome, laugh and visit a LOT, and maybe even learn to cook and bake with confidence. Along the way, I hope that some of the ideas and recipes I post will help you to have that, too.
As a Christian, faith, family and home are my priorities, so when I write, it is unapologetically from that point of view. Titus 2: 3-5 says, “Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.” It is my sincere desire to honor God with all I say and do, with what I teach, and with what I share.
If I have a goal for this blog, it would be to exemplify that older, Titus 2 woman, for His glory and service.Busy-at-Home is about sharing what I’ve learned about a wide variety of topics that help me “spin all the plates” that keep a family and home running — not always smoothly, but running, nonetheless. I think it’s probably a lot like what you deal with, each and every day. I’m excited to have been doing it long enough, that I might have some insights that will serve you on the journey.
What will you see here? You know I’ll be cooking and sharing recipes, and it won’t be unheard of for me to throw in some of our homeschooling tips, as well. I’m also pretty passionate about saving money, wherever I can. I love gardening and flowers, so when I get the chance, I want to talk with you about how that’s going. Gardens can put so much money back into your grocery budget and will ultimately provide you with the most nutritious food for your family. You should definitely have one. (Really! You can totally do it, on whatever scale fits your life and space.) I also dabble in all sorts of DIY endeavors, from projects around the house and decorating a wedding cake, to sewing our own Christmas stockings, or making my own laundry detergent and deodorant. Yes, it’s really true! You’re going to LOVE those money-saving recipes and tutorials! On top of that, I love technology and computers and I have some pretty avid gamers in my family, so you’ll likely hear about some of our favorite gadgets, too.
Additionally, Busy-at-Home has some of the most fantastic sponsors on the web, so you’ll see tons of product reviews and giveaways for our favorite kitchen appliances and tools, along with household tools and products that help you with all that keeps you busy-at-home. Remember to stop back often to learn about the best new products, I’m trying, and enter the giveaways in which you just may win something fabulous for your own family and home!
I’m so glad you had a chance to stop by and visit and I’m looking forward to getting to know you and “seeing” you around the blog! Hope your day is blessing-filled!
